A Call for Exponential Effort
Was just thinking about this sentiment yesterday when I came across the above image at Dangerously Irrelevant today. The image says volumes in such a succinct way. To me one of the most memorable statements from Karl Fisch's Shift Happens, is that "we live in exponential times". Our efforts as educators to keep up - to adapt, will have to be exponential, as well.

Glad you like the slide. Hope you get to use it with a group there locally!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on The Networked Student. I am completely with you on the million dollar question. In fact, it keeps me up at night. Scott McLeod joined a podcast recently in which he pointed out the parallels between disruptive innovation in corporations and in schools. I'm wondering if it is even possible to change things significantly within the traditional framework. I've been at this for years with so little change from year-to-year. Please keep me posted if you have any further thoughts about this.
ReplyDeleteWarm regards,
Wendy
Hi.
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog as I was searching for Blogger tutorials.
Just wish that I had come across it before.
I liked the idea from your Feb 2008 post of having your students do a structured log and then have their own as well.
I teach a Year 11 Business Administration to an older group of refugees here in Melbourne at
Victoria University.
How do you go about getting blogs connected? Is it as easy as me asking you if I may put you on my blog roll?
Regards, Bill Oldham (sessional teacher at VU Adult VCE program)
